Cricket Match & Luncheon – Marquee AV & Outdoor Sound Systems

Marquee AV & Outdoor Sound Systems – on Friday 28th June, Hartley Wintney Cricket Club hosted Hampshire for a T20 Charity Match on the 249-year old Cricket Green in this beautiful, quintessentially English village.   With the pitch in perfect condition and the weather destined to deliver the hottest day of the year to date, we arrived on site before 7.00am to start setting up.

eventpahire.co.uk were commissioned to provide AV services, including the provision of a marquee sound system covering a 70-metre long dining tent for speeches and an auction, plasma screens on stage for sponsorship showreel and a separate outdoor PA system, covering the pitch and surrounding spectator area, for match commentary.

Within the marquee we set up an AV control position to the back of the stage and deployed d&b audiotechnik E8 loudspeakers along the back wall of the marquee, positioned to optimise even sound coverage for the 400 seated luncheon guests.

From our control van positioned to the side of the club house, we ran the system electronics for the outdoor pitch PA system, with d&b audiotechnik E8 loudspeakers mounted in pairs on high winch stands, again positioned to ensure loud and clear match coverage for those outside.

Sennheiser wireless microphones were used throughout, with remote antennae for the pitch system, enabling the Master of Ceremonies and Match Day Announcer to go anywhere on site to deliver his commentary. Likewise within the marquee, the Luncheon Master of Ceremonies and speakers had complete microphone freedom.

We are experienced in providing sound systems for a variety of sporting and community events. If you’re looking for a loud and clear PA system, with on site technical support throughout, set up by a reliable and friendly technician, please get in touch and see what we can do for your event. We cover a large area – please see our coverage map for details.

We also set up an RF link between the outdoor and the marquee PA systems, enabling the match commentary to be heard in the marquee, before and after the charity auction.

Everything about the day was perfect, with record attendance by local people of all ages and money being raised for two very worthwhile causes, Hampshire Cricket in the Community and Dove House School Academy Families living on Cricket Green set up picnics in their front gardens to enjoy the match and savour the hot afternoon. And as if things couldn’t get any better, Hartley Wintney CC went on to secure the win!
